ABOUT JULIE

Thank you for viewing my website and considering me to be part of your journey.

If you would like to know a little information about me, here is a quick picture into my career, life and personality.

While I was attending San Jose State University for my Bachelor of Arts in Psycology and then my Master of Science in Clinical Psychology, I provided counseling and therapy to teens on juvenile probation and dual diagnosed adults in an in-patient drug & alcohol rehabilitation facility.  I was also living full-time as a house manager in a transitional housing unit for adults recovering from substance dependance.  After graduating in 2005, I completed my internship with Starlight Community Services working with children, adolescents, young adults, parents and families.  I now provide clinical supervision for Marriage & Family Therapist Interns and Social Work Interns at Starlight Community Services, and continue to provide therapy for clients in my private practice.

I have also experienced pain, loss, trauma, and difficulties not only in relationships, but in developing my own self-esteem.  Through therapy, the support of others and determination, I have learned to manage my moods, accept my imperfections, and continue to challenge myself towards growth.  Practicing and embracing acceptance, commitment and gratitude has empowered me to have a life full of joy.

I adore animals, and enjoy spending time with my family, friends and cats.  I have a casual presence, so you are likely to see me with jeans and tennis shoes on.  I have several tattoos that speak to my love of art, animals, compassion, love and world peace.  Sometimes I have purple hair, because I think we can get older, but still enjoy life with the wonder of youth.  I am a bonafide "finatic" about the San Jose Sharks and ice hockey.  Fantasy, thrillers, superhero and science fiction are my favorite movie and book genres, however a good romantic comedy will steal my heart.  A favorite pasttime is hanging out with friends and chatting over a casual dinner.  I  can easily get lost listening to music or wandering through an art museum.  Nature touches my soul, especially the cool breeze in the mountains or the sound of crashing waves on the beach.  I prefer a rain storm to hot sultry days.  Additionally,  compassion, equality, and the well-being of humanity are deep core values for me.

I hope that gives you an idea of who I am and I look forward to getting to know you.  I would be honored to work with you to help inspire your change and growth along your journey to a more satisfying and happier life.

      Most Sincerely,

       Julie
